One of the most important aspects of a successful search engine positioning strategy is the creation of inbound links that are connected to your website. You may have come across advertisements and even newsletters that talk about the benefits of link exchange. In link exchange, your website link is exchanged with other website links but it works successfully only if the other website targets a similar audience as yours or it can enhance reciprocal linking in any way. Such a scenario will definitely help your website get higher rankings.

Linking can be reciprocal or non-reciprocal and the latter has 2 distinct advantages over reciprocal links. The first advantage is that the non-reciprocal links holds more weight because of their non-reciprocal nature. It is easier for search engines to detect reciprocal links. The second advantage that a non-reciprocal link will have is that they will not be monitored the way most reciprocal links are. If you have reciprocal links then you will have to look out for unethical webmasters who can bring your link down. You need to be constantly aware of such webmasters and try to remove their links from your website as soon as possible.

These are just a few of the benefits of non-reciprocal link building but the question is how can you successfully do it? There are different ways of ensuring successful non-reciprocal link building and some of them are:

Providing useful or good content

Good content is like a goldmine. Content differentiates one website from another and is the thin line that separates success from failure. Some people or websites may link to your website just because your website has content that is useful for their customers.

If the content on your website is interesting and informative and is updated on a regular basis then there are many people who will try to link to you. One link is worth a lot of traffic and the increase in traffic to your website through such non-reciprocal links will enhance your search engine positioning.

Directory listings enhance non-reciprocal link building

Directory listings are considered as one of the easiest methods of obtaining non-reciprocal links. There is a condition though: you website needs to have excellent content, which will be value addition to other sites or for readers. Most of the directories will list your website only after you pay a small review fee.

Some of the popular directories include the Yahoo! Directory but it comes with an exorbitant price tag of $299 and hence is not the best option for a single listing. Another popular directory listing service is DMOZ or Open Directory Project and the only drawback is that it can take months to get listed here.

There is some secondary directory listing services also, which includes directories that are topic-specific. Most of the topic-specific directories are considered a valuable source of non-reciprocal link building to your website. The advantage is that you will be able to get quality traffic generated by your listing. The only aspect that you should check is that the directory used for non-reciprocal link building should rank well.

Submissions

Article submission is one of the most popular methods of enhancing search engine positioning through non-reciprocal link building. Although writing good articles may seem like a long and painful process but they are a great option for driving targeted traffic.

Once you have completed writing an article, you will have to find the right website to publish it. There are thousands of article directories but you need only the top directories that have a good ranking so that you can benefit from their ranking. The second important aspect is that your article title should have the key phrase that is relevant to your business or website or target audience.

The higher the number of article submissions directories, the better your chances are for driving targeted traffic to your website and this will also help in strengthening the search engine positioning.

Of course non-reciprocal link building can not be achieved overnight but once you achieve it, you will realize the immense potential it has over the internet.

Why do search engines exist? That may seem like a strange question considering the fact that search engines are designed to search for information.

OK so search engines exist to search, but who benefits most from search engines? Well, businesses benefit from search engines, but search engines do not primarily exist for businesses.

Search engines exist for the benefit of the searcher. The consumer is the individual that should gain the most benefit from a search engine. Search engines will always work to protect the trust of the consumer.

Many businesses will use Search Engine Optimization (SEO) strategies that ultimately fail because they were developed to exploit the search engine or explore a flaw in the algorithm of the search function. Once the flaw is discovered there is typically a radical restructuring of results. This can be frustrating to business owners, but it generally causes very little concern for the consumer.

Why? The search engine continues to learn from past success and failure as it improves search results.

With that in mind let me suggest that when you as a business owner begin to explore SEO techniques you should always make sure that the techniques you use are ‘white hat’ or generally accepted by search engines.

You can improve your results by concentrating on a well-defined keyword or phrase. You can also gain points by making sure your have a steady supply of fresh content. This can allow you to discover the greatest overall marketing push from search engines.

I’d like to suggest one of the most positive ways to improve SEO marketing enhancement is to involve yourself in article marketing.

If you’ve never heard of this strategy before it is simply writing articles that have something to do with your product, service or industry. In this case you do not need to write articles that only deal with your site keyword or phrase.

Once you write articles (generally 400 words of more in length) you submit the article to as many free article directories as possible.

How does this help you?

Virtually all free article marketing directories allow you to place a bio with up to three links that must be included by anyone wishing to use your article on their website or blog.

Essentially there are two things that happen when you use this marketing technique. The first thing that will happen is your site will gain more exposure as individuals use your article and readers choose to visit your website(s) as a result of reading your work. The second thing that happens is search engines will recognize these multiple backlinks to your site and tend to rank your site higher. They do this because the more links back to your website from other site sources usually indicates a heightened level of trust and that makes your site a more positive choice for higher rankings.

If you can refuse the idea that you should find a way to trick the search engines and simply work to discover positive ways to direct traffic to your site you may actually find a more positive SEO experience and greater online visibility in the long run.

So you have a ranking in a search engine but it’s not quite what you expected, right? Well there are a few tips for ranking higher and I’m going to share those with you today so listen up.

Rank Booster #1 Increase Your Reciprocal Links

This is a time tested approach and it works in both Directories such as Yahoo! and also in Spider Search Engines such as Google.

What you do is setup a link trading directory and make categories just like a mini Yahoo! except you have them all relate to your market. This provides keyword density and it also gives your link popularity a big boost.

But please be warned that if you just go and get any links you can (i.e. untargeted links) you will be penalized rather than rewarded in your rankings.

It’s much better to get just a few high ranking link partners verses hundreds of unrelated and untargeted ones.

Rank Booster #2 Add More Content

This is a great technique that also works in both Directories and Spider Search Engines. By adding more content you will keep people who click over to your site there longer and this gets your ranking up in the Directories such as Yahoo! because they track how long a visitor stays at your site. If they click their back button then you will be shown as a site which doesn’t help the visitor which will decrease your rank.

You will get a higher ranking on the Spider Search Engines such as Google because they spider through your whole site seeing how many pages there are and this increases your ranking because you have more information there for there visitors.

Both Directories and Search Engines love content and track how long people are staying at your pages which in turn also increases or decreases your rank based on how long they stay. If they stay longer, your rank goes up. If they click the back button immediately, your rank goes down.

Rank Booster #3 Improve Your Sites Load Time

This is another that works with both Spider Search Engines and Directories. This will improve your ranking in Directories because it will keep more of the visitors that click over to your site there longer. Internet users want information and they want it now. If your site loads like molasses then they are going to leave. Directories track how long a visitor stays at your site and rank you accordingly. If a visitor leaves immediately then you’re rank goes down because your site was tagged as “not useful”.

It will improve your ranking in Spider Search Engines because the spiders check for load time and load speed is part of the ranking system when they calculate relevance of a site.

Rank Booster #4 Improve Your Keyword Density

This one only works for Spider Search Engines. The reason is because Directories only review & list you once so you can change your keyword density after they list you but the review and placement of your site has already happened.

It works great in Spider Search Engines because they continually spider your site analyzing & updating your listing according to what it finds.

If you need a better listing then utilize these strategies in helping you boost your rank today. They work and although they all take time, you will see a difference.

These are much easier tactics than you will find in big, complicated SEO courses and there’s a good chance that they may just bump your position up.

Get to work and start using them now.

A search engine indexes different websites available on the Internet and shows a list of them to the users when searched on a specific keyword. You can compare a search engine to a library where you can search books on a specific topic and access numerous books. It is essentially a free service, but you can also invest into paid ads that appear along with the organic search results. If you are concerned about an ad that is appearing in a low rank on a search engine, they will give you customized tips. However, the search engines cannot provide such a level of service for the organic results because the number runs into trillions or probably more.

This is the reason Search engine optimization (SEO) has become a popular service, which helps your website appear in high positions on search result pages or increase your Alexa rankings (a method of ranking a website by calculating the number of visits with Alexa toolbars installed on the website). A search engine page ranking depends on multiple factor and even though the whole system is automated, it is highly intelligent. A search engine like Google, Yahoo or MSN will generally always reward a good site with high rankings. To learn what to do in order to secure a good page ranking for your website, read the following tips.

Keyword incorporation

Suppose there is a book, which cannot be classified into any category. It is neither a romance, nor a documentary. Any library will be confused regarding where to place it and will probably shove it to some obscure corner. The exact same thing happens with your website if you do not follow a central theme in it. If your website is about a varied subject matters, still try to bring them under a common theme and have this theme spread throughout your website content in form of keywords.

Links to other good pages

If other websites with high page ranks link to your website, your own ranking goes higher. The search engine crawlers automatically think, as your website is being linked by other ‘good’ websites, it must be useful.

Page loading time

If you are using a nice flash image on your website and feeling very happy about how brilliant your page is looking, think twice. Flash images can slow down your page loading time considerably. There is no problem with having a light flash file. However, don’t be over-enthusiastic and use a flash image that will take more than 20 seconds to load. Not only your Search engine page ranking will dip but your visitor will also run away elsewhere.

Under construction pages

How many times has this happened to you that you have searched on something, noticed a website that just suits your need and opened it only to see the pathetic message ‘We are sorry the site is under construction’? Neither search engines not visitors like this. Have your website and all pages up and running always, no matter what.

Pop-up and pop under

Search engines do not like pop-up and pop unders for the simple reason the users hate it. Find some other ways to send across the message and get rid of your pop-ups.

The internet has evolved into a full-fledged virtual market place and therefore, millions of websites strive hard each day to make good online business. One of the important factors for gaining good business online is effective and efficient content. You can use the content of your website for your advantage but only if you have proper keywords. A good piece of content will enable you to get high ranks on the Search Engine and if you already have a high page rank for any of your website page then you can use this page as a stepping stone for successful high rank of a new page. The obvious question you would ask is how? Well, here it is. It is a simple four step process that can surely make you get high ranks.

Step One: The first step would always be to determine an appropriate keyword. A high priority keyword can be found through various tools avilable on Google and Yahoo! And so on. The most popular tools for high priority keywords are Word Tracker, SEM Rush, Google AdWords External keyword Tool.

Step Two: the obvious thing after researching the high priority keyword is to write a relevant content on it. A content should be such that it very easy to understand and has a very smart weaving of the keywords as well in it. However, there is no point in aimlessly placing the keywords without sense. Therefore, the golden rule is to write content the way it is to be written and use the keyword naturally where ever it is viable.

Step Three: this is an important step. All you need to do is to find the page ranks of all the pages of your existing website. You can make use of tools such as SeoQuake SeoBar with Yahoo Site Explorer for finding the page rank of a particular page and thereby determine a page that carries highest page rank.

Step Four: once the page with high page rank is determined then try to fit the high priority keyword of the step one in it. The advantage of this is that since the existing page already has a higher page rank, it will enable this new page also to gain high page rank quickly. However, make sure that the keyword is not placed randomly but in a natural position. You can link the new page to the existing page through absolute
link. The insistence upon absolute is so that the crawlers are led from this high ranking page to the new page which also consists of the high priority keyword.

Hence, you will get a high page rank for new page as well with the help of the existing page with high rank.

In previous articles I have discussed the most important factors in achieving a high page ranking for your site, in this article I will discuss another nine top tips to improve your ranking.

Whilst these tips do not have as significant an effect as the previous tips I have discussed they are still important – they may make the difference between getting on the first page or not. A key factor to remember when trying to get high rankings for your site is that there is no magic bullet, no single thing you can do that will guarantee a top spot. It is all about carrying out a range of tasks that will incrementally get you where you want to be.

1) Text around the anchor text of a link
As well as the anchor text of the link itself the text around the anchor text is also important – it sets the context. For example if you have text that is describing a cruise on the Nile and then suddenly there is a link to an automobile site with the anchor text of automobile repairs then it is not going to look too natural to the search engines !

2) The font size of your keywords
As well as using tags such as  the h1 or b tags etc to highlight the important keywords on your page you should also consider increasing the font size of these keywords. In essence anything that you do regarding formatting of text to highlight it to a human visitor will also add weight to a spider visitor.

3) Formatting – use selectively
As discussed earlier you can use various formatting tags to highlight your keywords but if you use too much formatting and it ends up making your page look like a dogs dinner then it will have a negative effect rather than positive. Remember – look at your page and if it looks presentable and easily readable then it is probably OK, if it looks like an abstract painting you have gone too far !

4) Sitemaps
Sitemap – get one!, at  the very least they are useful for the search engine spiders but they can also be useful for human visitors as well. If you do not want to generate one by hand then there are many free ones available, personally I use the Google XML Sitemaps plug in for my Wordpress blog.

5)  Site size
It is simple really – the more content you have the more likely you are to get one of the pages a good ranking. However the principles of good quality content apply – it is no use simply generating hundreds of low quality pages simply to bulk out the site. In addition to this, if you have a large site then you must ensure the content is accessible – you will need a good menu system.

6) File / Page Locations
This may sound a strange one but the actual location of your files / pages relative to the root of the site may have an effect on your rankings – pages closer to the root tend to get better rankings. Therefore but all your pages with primary keywords as close to the root of the site as possible – do not bury them many layers down.

7)   Domain names – sub domains v top level domains
Is a separate domain name better than just having a sub domain – well yes actually – so mykeyworddomain.com should rank better mykeyword.genericdomain.com. So if you are serious about your site get yourself a proper domain name (preferably one where the domain name relates to your keyword !)

8) What type of domain to use?
There is a clear hierarchy of domain names – if you qualify for a .edu or .org name then they have the greatest weight with the search engines, following after that are .com domains and then all the rest (.net, .ws etc) all trail behind. If you are starting a new site you should bear this domain name hierarchy in mind.

9) Hyphenated domain names.
Hyphens help – particularly where you are optimizing for keyword phrases rather than individual keywords. This applies to both domain names and page names – my-keyword-site.com is a better name mykeywordsite.com and my-keyword-page.htm is better than mykeywordpage.htm. A guiding principle, as with most search engine stuff, is : if it makes it easier for a human to read or use then it will help to improve your rankings.

We hope these tips prove useful to your online marketing efforts, please look out for more of our articles on this and other related subjects.

Search engine optimisation (SEO) is a complex and diverse topic that’s both never constant and constantly changing. There are hundreds of myths about SEO, some were once true but no longer apply (outdated information), while others were simply never true to begin with (disinformation).

Everyone wants to increase their rankings with the search engines and because of this there is a ton of information available on how to go about it. Unfortunately, while some of this information is real, there is just as much or more information that is outdated, wrong, and a complete waste of time, money and energy on your part.

One of the myths is to use meta tags to boost your research results. This is proven to be useless because while keywords are still essential, meta keyword tags are ignored by search engines since a long time ago. Another myth is that pay per click advertising methods has some sort of impact on the search rankings of certain search engines.

Google Page Rank is way over-valued by many webmasters. It is not unusual for a website with a PageRank of 2 to outrank a website with a PageRank of 5. The reason is that PageRank is only an indicator of one of many factors, and PageRank is not even a reliable indicator, at that.

There are numerous SEO companies that promise to get you ranked high with Google and other major search engines. They may make good on their promise and get you ranked in the top ten. But then what? Don’t forget that every other web site owner is going to be trying the same strategy and the competition does not stop once you’ve positioned yourself on the first page.

A Google sitemap may help you to achieve a higher ranking as it helps to make a website crawler friendly. But it’s also true that it doesn’t guarantee for better ranking.

Reciprocal linking is quite helpful in better ranking

Outbound links to related and unrelated sites are factored into page rank. One way links count higher than reciprocated links. The more quality inbound links to your site, the higher the PR, but nobody knows exactly how Google factors their PR and their algorithm is constantly adjusted.

This is really a myth. Although a domain name with keyword do in fact play some important role when calculation search engine relevancy, however, my little experiment showed me Google did and could separate a non hyphenated domain with keywords and a hyphenated domain with keywords.

A general myth is that you get bad links, and your site is doomed! If so, everyone would leave their own ranking and start concentrating on how to link each and every rotten link to their competitors’ site. Links to unnecessary sites may irritate the visitors, but certainly not the search engines.

Links are important to increasing traffic, Keyword Rich Anchor links are an important factor in the Search Engine Results, but generic links that create Page Rank, not a major be all end all Issue.  So if you are buying links or selling links for Links Sake, you are being taken advantage of, and are selling and buying into miss-information.

Pay-per-click advertising is great for generating instant traffic to your site, but how effective is it in the long term? Ideally, you’ll continually optimize your campaigns, but you may come to a point where your return on investment levels off and there isn’t any tweaking left to do. This could take weeks or months, and it may lead to a fantastic ROI, but there’s something better than a fantastic ROI — an infinite ROI. If you invest nothing but your own time into optimizing your site for placement in the organic search listings (the free ones), that’s what your ROI will be — infinite.

Search engine optimization is the best thing you can do to maximize your online marketing results. For the uninitiated, search engine optimization (SEO) refers to methods of making web sites “friendly” to the different search engines. Optimizing your site doesn’t necessarily guarantee high search engine placement, but you’ll have a much better shot at it than those whose sites aren’t optimized. And the core of search engine optimization — the foundation upon which you’ll base your entire optimization strategy — is the choosing of keywords.

Anyone reading this article is likely to know that you can’t simply guess when it comes to keywords. It’s possible to do everything else right but still fail miserably because you optimized your site for keywords that don’t get any searches. So, at the heart of any optimization strategy lies solid keyword research, and the best way to do it is to use a tool like Wordtracker.

Wordtracker is a keyword research tool that uses metacrawler information to pull keywords and keyphrases from search query databases. (Don’t worry if you didn’t understand that — neither did I.) What it means is, Wordtracker helps you find relevant keywords and then tells you how often they get searches. Here’s how to do it:

First, you’ll need to sign up for an account. You can get a free trial, or you can get a paid membership for a day, a week, a month or a year. The free trial is severely limited and not very helpful; it shows results only for MSN, and it allows you to research just 30 keywords at a time. You’ll want results for Google and Yahoo! most of all, and you’ll have to go through hundreds or thousands of terms before you find the really juicy keywords you’ll want to optimize for. That’s why I recommend signing up for a one-day membership at first. You’ll get to try Wordtracker with all the features enabled, and a day’s membership only costs around seven bucks.

Once you have your account, log in to the members area. Click on “Keyword Universe” (top left) and you’ll get a screen prompting you to enter a search term. Enter a generic term as a jumping-off point. For example, if you run an online dating site, you should enter a term like “get dates online” or “internet dating.” It doesn’t matter if the term is incredibly broad; we’ll narrow it down in the next step.

Let’s go ahead and use the dating example for this exercise. I’ve entered the term “online dating,” leaving both the lateral and thesaurus match options checked. This gives us a lot of different related terms we can expand upon, including a bunch that we might not have come up with on our own.

I’ll now click on “online dating” in these results, which brings up a new box on the right side of the screen. This is a list of all the search queries for the term “online dating” that appear in Wordtracker’s database. The first column (“Keyword”) shows the search query; the second (“Count”) shows the number of times the search query appears in the database; the third (“Predict”) predicts the number of searches for that query in any given 24-hour period; and the fourth (“Dig”) lets you “dig deeper” to find even more specific variations of that query (click on the shovel icon to dig deeper). Clicking on a search query in this list will add it to your keyword basket, or you can choose to add all of them at once. I’ll add them all, and then click on the blue arrow in the bottom right corner (“Click here for step 33).

Now we have a few options. “Export Keywords” sends the list to a text file that you can print out or cut-and-paste. “E-mail Keywords” lets you e-mail the list to yourself or anyone else. “Competition Search” is what we’re really after, so click on that. This will bring you to a screen that lets you choose two search engines to check for competing sites. Definitely choose Google, and you’ll probably want to choose either Yahoo! or MSN for your second one. Leave “KEI Analysis” and “Quotes” set to “Yes,” and then click “Proceed.”

We now come to a page that ranks our keywords by KEI, or Keyword Effectiveness Index. You’ll notice that each search term has been assigned a KEI value. The higher this is, the better the search term; i.e., pick a search term with a high KEI value, and it’ll be easier to optimize your site for it. Each term has a different KEI depending on the search engine, so be sure to check the same terms in different engines, depending on which ones you want to rank on.

According to Wordtracker, KEI is determined by comparing the number of competing sites for that term with the number of times it appears in the Wordtracker database. A KEI value of 10 or less means a poor keyword, between 10 and 100 is a good keyword, between 100 and 400 is an excellent keyword, and 400 and up is a great keyword.

The results for “online dating” don’t look very good. Our best term for Google is “dating agencies online in somerset,” with a KEI value of 84.941. If this happens to be your niche — that is, online dating agencies in Somerset — then this is a fantastic keyword. For most of us, this would be pretty useless. We can see that the next one down is “top online search adult dating service hiv positive dating” with a KEI value of 22.091. Again, probably not quite the niche we’re in, and the KEI isn’t nearly as high as we’d like it to be.

At this point, you’d go back to step one, choose a different result, and repeat the process all over again. With some patience, you’ll uncover those juicy niche keywords with high counts and low competition, and these are the words you’ll optimize your site for.

Heard enough? Now go sign up for Wordtracker!

If you would like to have more hungry traffic on your website made up of people who have their wallets open and their credit cards ready, then you’ll want to read this article.

You can increase the amount of visitors that go to your site and boost the quality of your readers if you employ proper search engine optimization (SEO). Search engine optimization is different than search engine marketing (SEM) because SEM focuses on traffic that you have to pay for. On site SEO utilizes organic means to naturally get your visitors to go to your website.

Utilizing proper SEO is very important because the end result will be that your websites will rank considerably higher in the search engines. And the closer a site is to the number one position the more traffic it receives.

In order to make your web pages SEO friendly you will probably have to use proper HTML code and edit the content to get the results you want. This article will look at some of the most important aspects that you should concentrate on for your on site search engine optimization.

Your Keywords

Keywords are the words folks type into the search engine query box when they’re looking for information about a specific product and / or service. Therefore, your initial decision will be which keywords you should focus on.

If you target keywords that a person who wants to buy what you are selling would search for, your sales will probably notice that your sales are beginning to increase almost instantaneously. You can use free and / or paid keyword tools to find the words and phrases you should target.

Once you have decided on what keywords to target there are four other major factors that will go into your on site SEO. They are keyword optimized copy, title tag optimization, meta tag optimization, and image tag optimization.

Keyword Optimized Copy

When you write an article for your website people should enjoy reading it. They should feel that it was time well spent. When you’re done with this, you should optimize your article for the keyword(s) you chose to target.

Use your primary keyword approximately one time for every hundred words you write. You should also include latent semantic indexing (LSI) words. LSI are phrases that most people would associate with your keyword. Your intuition should tell you where you should put them in the article. Nothing should ever feel forced or out of place.

And always include a call to action in your copy. A call to action is what you want your reader to do that takes them further down the road to buying your service and / or product.

Title Tag Optimization

The first thing people see is your title. It’s what they see at the top of a web page in their browser. The title tag of your page should contain your primary keyword.

If you take a little time and make your title tag relevant you will separate your site from the millions of others websites.

Meta Tag Optimization

Next, you’ll want to add a couple of meta tags to your code. These are the Description meta tag and the Keywords meta tag.

Write a 25 to 50 word blurb about your site and what it offers. Although it should sound natural you will want to make sure that you include keywords in your description.

There are a number of more advanced techniques can boost your search engine ranking even more. However, when you use these three easy to use techniques you will be well ahead of what most people do when they build a website.

Link exchange has proved to be one of the easiest ways for a website, especially a just-out one, to get the thick net of backlinks needed for high Google rankings. Whether you’re up to bursting your website’s visibility by link exchange on your own or with the help of link-exchange software, there are things you’d better know about link exchange and its vital part – writing link-exchange requests.  Read on to dig deeper into traffic- and sales-promising world of link exchange.

Why exchange links?

Most probably you already know that getting real dough with an online biz is something you can’t do without gaining solid search engine rankings for your website.  That’s the most sure-fire way to reach out to your targeted audience and get ever-growing sales, as it guarantees your website’s always being at the right place and time (when a person is looking exactly for what you offer).

Squeezing to highest Google’s positions means gaining more Google’s trust than your competitors have, for Google and suchlike rank the sites they believe to be “trust” to carry quality content higher in search results pages. And one of the cornerstones in gaining such trust is making other websites put links to your site: putting a link is like placing a this-site-is-worth-visiting sign, so the more such signs your website gets, the worthier it seems to Google.

Some “super-professional” webmasters with their noses in the air may say “Ha, an A-1 website for an A-1 biz gets links on its jack. Just be the best in your field and you’ll be the first in Google”. And they are quite right, but for the fact that this “getting links for being the best” may take ages. And while these ages pass, your clients are lured by someone else, whose website they saw at the right place and time.

So those who know better than to sit on their hands, realize: link popularity (the number of links pointing to your website) is something you’d better help up a bit. That’s where link exchange comes into play to give you handfuls of needed backlinks.  It goes as easy as this: you link to a website from your page, and your link-exchange partner puts a link to your website on his page. You both take home the bacon, which is in this case a “portion” of Google’s trust.

How to exchange links?

Both starting link quest on your own, or with link-exchange software, the very first thing to do is to find hoped-for link exchange partners. Concentrate on websites relevant to your business niche and already in good with Google. Stay away from the link trading hubs and networks, and do not try to get links from pages that list hundreds of off topic link partners. The best principle is to seek link exchanges that you would pursue even if search engines did not exist.

Ok, partners found, but how to push the link-exchange business through? How to hook another website owner and make him strive to exchange links with you? The next, and probably the most important step here is writing a convincing link-exchange request and e-mailing it the website owner.  Make sure your link-exchange offers are personal, addressing another webmaster by name and using his website’s name and URL.  Have them include all information your link-exchange partner may need:  your name, your website’s URL, the subject theme of your website, the exact URL and anchor text you would like to get a link with. Be short, polite and professional. State all your website’s positive aspects to convince the person you are writing to that your website is worth linking.

Savvy link-exchange software you can find on the market is a real leg-up when it comes to link exchange, for it spares you countless hours of work and automates the process to the utmost. Make sure the software you choose provides you with e-mail templates, manages your e-mail correspondence with partners, and protects you from any black-hat techniques your partners may try to use. With a tool meeting these criteria, you’re sure to reap the sweetest fruits of your link-exchange labor in the shortest possible time.
